  • A solid base provides stability and prevents shifting, sinking, and cracking over time. It distributes weight evenly and allows for proper drainage, ensuring your driveway remains durable and resistant to wear and tear.

  • Proper drainage prevents standing water, which can cause erosion, frost heaving, and premature deterioration. Without adequate drainage, water can weaken the driveway structure, leading to cracks and potholes.

  • The recommended thickness depends on the material:

    • Gravel Driveway: 4 to 6 inches of compacted gravel.

    • Recycled Asphalt Driveway: 3 to 4 inches of compacted material.

    • Concrete Driveway: 4 inches (5-6 inches for heavy vehicles).

    • Asphalt Driveway: 2 to 3 inches of asphalt over 6 to 8 inches of compacted base.
